  IF THE BIBLE is so darned great---why don't people JUST read IT?

  working in a bookstore i notice the thousands and thousands of books "explaining" what the bible really "means.".

  those are what people read.. when people say they read the bible they are really saying they "try".

  but, it is like reading chinese.. so, what they end up doing is reading opinions.. opinions, conjectures, hypothesis, fantasy, imaginative ruminations, fanciful concoctions......other people's ideas presented as documentary fact.. .

  Are JWs more likely to stay from Fear of Armageddon or Fear of being Disfellowshipped?

  i have been reading some interesting information on terror management theory at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/terror_management_theory.

  this explains how the terror of death leads to a belief in an afterlife and also affects how we live.

  there is an "irresolvable paradox" created from the desire to preserve life and the realization of that impossibility because life is finite.

  As a JW I always thought I would be killed at the big A regardless of what i did, pioneer for 13 years... When I learned what the truth of the "truth" was I didn't stay! I had no fear after leaving them!

  Is The Watchtower Organization A Cult To You?

  i used to call them "cult like" but i do believe they are a "cult".. what's your opinion?.

  I thought at first it was a good religion just not what i wanted. then thought it was a bad religion, hurtful but not a cult. NOW i know it is a cult a mind controlling bad bad cult that hurts a lot of people!

  Being a long time Witness is like shopping at Costco

  after shopping at costco for years and years, i just realized i don't even check the prices anymore to compare them to those at other stores.

  somewhere along the way i got into the habbit of assuming that they always have the best prices and best products.

  it dawned on me that it's sort of like that with being a witness especially if you were raised as that way.

  my last convention 2 years ago I didn't want to go but must say I enjoyed because it was so clear to me how "off" they are. I loved looking around and trying to see if anyone else saw the same thing...
